Hay bales are one format, but that system has perceived limitations from the biorefinery's point of view, including transporting, de-stringing, de-baling, and overall economics. We focus on a low-moisture, bulk-format approach created during harvesting with a forage harvester. A bulk format system has potential to streamline handling at increased scale and reduced costs.
